Disappointment and the Snoring Man!

Disappointment... Long haul flights are uncomfortable, there's no getting away from it.  Squashed up in your little section of plane for hours on end, the only time to get up is to move to the even more squashy toilet, and that's not exactly a positive move!  But i remember one positive from previous flights that is guaranteed to make you feel just a little better... the steaming hot face towels that get offered around... usually.  But not this time.  That warm refreshing feeling that brings you back to life sadly didn't eventuate...

... Then another glimmer of hope for part two of the journey, the one that had sleep written all over it, because up to now we hadn't really had any of it.  Reboarding the plane we noticed two people moving out of our row of seats!  Could it be that we could lie down and sleep, having the whole row to ourselves?  Everyone had boarded, we kept looking around waiting for the final announcements, still no one!  The crew were getting their final preparations done, we were in luck! Almost.  That last minute glance up revealed two people marching done towards us.... so close, but that little bit of luxury slipped away and we were back to seated sleeping, dreaming of laying down.  So close!

It would be wrong to talk about the flight with out mentioning a true champion that we had the pleasure of crssing paths with.  A guy with such talent that we were actually speechless when we first learned of his skill.  We simpling turned to each other and our laughter was enough!  There he was, an old asian fella who somehow seemed to fall asleep before we had even taken off!  How did we know he was asleep so quickly I hear you ask?  This is when his talent became so obvious, he snored like no one we have ever heard before!  I'm surprised the pilot didn't come charging down to see what the comotion was all about, this guy was loud! But somehow he stayed asleep for long enough to get some rest before waking up again fresh as a daisy! Then after a little while, he'd be off again competing with the noise of the 4 jet engines!!

And so was our flight to Paris, pretty uneventful really, but the time did manage to pass without any real dramas.  We even managed to get to the hostel without a hitch.

But now that's all a distant memory, we've made it to Finland and are hanging out on an organic strawberry farm, owned by Soph's old host family.  Things couldn't be better, its summer, we haven't seen a dark sky for days (even though we got here after midnight), and there's wild blueberries just waiting to be picked after swimming in the beautiful lakes.  But more about that later...
