un baguette s'il vous plaît

It wouldn't be a trip to france without a bit of bread action now would it?  The French love their baguettes, and they really do have one every day.  You see them everywhere going about their daily business baguette in hand, ready for the munchies whenever they may appear, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any time of the day.  Having been witness to this on a daily basis, Soph decided to take one for a test drive...
We hit the markets at our next destination, sussed out the quality and made the call "un baguette s'il vous plaît!" and we were set for the day.  You would probably take your baguette home shortly after your purchase, not at the start of your days adventure, but where's the fun in that?

Our day had an amazing castle in store for us and Soph took on the trip leader role (not roll, its a baguette remember), pointing out all the views, interesting points, the non interesting points, and generally waving the loaf around as much as she could.  We all ended up covered in bread crumbs, but not a french person looked twice at us, apparently this is all acceptable behaviour.

Our crusty companion was a little worse for wear by the end of the day, but it sure beats loafying around!

'You'd better watch it' bread!

On a tangent (news before its gets stale) we've been staying at a friends place in Coulommiers, an hour out of Paris for the last week.  A country town that lets us do some day trips around the place.  There's been more castles, churches and a couple of trips to Paris.
The 'Painters Quarter' has been our favourite area in Paris, full of creative bodies, painting, drawing etc, some amazing skill that's for sure.  Its all pearched up on a hill with the Sacre Coure Church taking pride of place at the top.  A really cool area to just hang out in.  Which is what we were doing when we noticed the bloke below... probably the best busker we've both ever seen!  It says something when people actually make an effort to get over to him to give him money.  Standing up on a concrete pillar he went about kicking a soccer ball anyway you could think of before climbing up a lamp pole whilst still doing it.  Words can't really explain it, but have a look for a bit of an idea... amazing!

So we're off to India in a couple of days, so no idea when we will get internet again, if you miss us, then maybe read our other posts again???  We'll be back when we can!
