Mt Cobbler

It's school holiday time, so that means that there's plenty of time to get out and about.  So, hot on the heels of Mt Twynam, was a jaunt out to Mt Cobbler for a lunch trip. And yes, lunch was pretty tasty!

It's spring time again and that can only mean one thing... Another ski trip to Mt Twynam. Whilst the snow this year wasn't quite up to the high standard of last year, there was still plenty to choose from, and the sun did decide to shine for the most part.  Here's a sneak peak...

Fresh birthday tracks!

Yes, another year down and another year wiser.  Its birthday time again, and in what's becoming a bit of a tradition it was time to get snowy again!  The Razorback Ridge served up another helping of fresh snow and sunshine so it was only polite to go and mess it all up with some fresh tracks and plenty of face plants!  Enjoy the below shots, and go and get out there!

Easter Epic 2013 edition

Well, no, this year the Easter trip to the mountains wasn't so 'epic', more like meandering really.  With a reduced team of only four (but what a four!) things were certainly more sedate, and with a very 'cruisey' route planned there was plenty of time to munch on Easter Eggs!

Falls Creek lured us back for another dose, but this year in another direction with a chance to drop in on a few new huts to check out the capabilities of their fireplaces!  Here's a glimpse of the action (and a chance for me to get back into this blogging thing, its been a while!)

Back Country Mt Twynam

Although Spring is in the air, the snow has still been calling out with quite a loud voice lately so that it is not easily forgotten.  To say our final farewell for the season we headed to Mt Twynam (Australias third highest mountain) for a week of fresh tracks in the back country... and boy was it a hoot!!

Birthdays in the Back Country!

Woohoo, its birthday time!  August has traditionally played host to the month long festivities known as our birthday (the tradition started by my old man, also an August boy).  Now I'm sure you'll all agree that birthdays are all about fun, and being a bit spoilt!

Snow time!

While we're all shivering at work through the week, complaining of the cold the snow has been falling!  So rather than grumble about the winter, why not get out and enjoy it!  Here's some motivation...

Overland Winter

Its cold, its wet and its the middle of winter what do you do?  While some like to snuggle into sleep-ins, others do a bit of work on the couch wearing in the groove that marks their spot in front of the TV, maybe you're dreaming of warmer days.  But not many people are thinking of seven day treks in Tasmania are they?  But they should!

A look to the future...

As the days wear one, we get a little bit older each day.  Some people spend their time worrying about it, others embrace it.  We test it out.

The Wake Up Call

Get up out of bed! yes its cold outside, and warm inside your bed, but the mornings are cracking at the moment, clear skies, frosty ground, worth the early rise that's for sure! I just need to convince my bike riding buddies to keep it up, although when you're solo you can stop for moment like this!  See you in the morning!

A little trip to Melbourne

I'm feeling a little lost at the moment, all tired and worn out.  It's been another busy couple of weeks as you might have guessed by the lack of posts (there's a few to catch up on!).  But its now time to relax and gather up the reserves again.  Our school camp is over and what better way to wind down than to have another look at where our boots have been.  Here's a couple of sneaky shots taken down in Melbourne when I wasn't chasing my class of 10 year olds around. Enjoy, I'm off for a nap!

Don't leave us Autumn!

Heading out for the Wednesday morning ride this morning I was rudely reminded of one thing.  The temperature was sitting at 0.1 degrees, my cheeks were stinging, eyes watering and brain clinging on to the warm sensation that was bed...  Winter is coming...

Bright colours

Picture this... Beautiful sunny days, crisp autumn air, amazing colours splashed over trees and ground, a roaring fireplace, wineries with glasses and bottles at the ready, breweries beckoning and a few great people to share it with...

Off to Market... another wake up call

The doona was peeled back.  There was no sunshine greeting my eyes this morning.  The doona got heavier and bed got warmer.  It was then that I realised that the sun hadn't actually come up to warm the world yet, and it was soon to be a beautiful morning.  And the Violet Town market was on!

Storm Chasing

The weekend finale.  Just as we put up our feet for a lazy Sunday afternoon the clouds rolled in.  And they did in spectacular form, so into the car I jumped and went for a little tour to see what I could see see see.  Here's a look.

The Wake Up Call

'The Wake Up Call' is a new series of posts that aim to give everyone a bit of motivation to "wake up" and do something.  A photo and a short little brag is all it is, if you have one you'd like to share then send it in to ourtwoboots@me.com   Mornings really are the best part of the day, so go and get out there!

Old Dookie Rd.  The morning fog lifts to give us an absolutely perfect morning for a ride.  The 135km loop to Violet Town via Dookie had it all, sunshine and muffins at the Violet Town cafe and a tail wind on the way home!

On another note, you can now follow us on Twitter, check out the feed on the right and step aboard. (thanks to A is for Avocado for the idea!)

Mt Bogong Easter Epic

Easter means many things for many people, for us it means getting away to appreciate friends, family and the beautiful places around.  The 'Easter Epic' this year took us to Victoria's highest mountain, Mt Bogong.

Food Food and Mt Buffalo

fffffor crying out loud Matty, get some photos up!
It may seem like old news now, but the annual Warby Wanderers Mt Buffalo  outing was held again on the long weekend.  To use a famous saying, "a picture speaks a thousand words" here's a few pics from the weekend to sum it all up.  In short, food,  swimming, gossiping, more food and some lounging around.
